Rafał Olbiński - world-famous painter, illustrator, sculptor and scenographer. Born and studied in Poland, he emigrated to the United States in 1981. He has received over 150 awards for his work. Olbiński's works have been presented at exhibitions all over the world and can be found in the collections of such prestigious institutions as The National Arts Club in New York, The Smithsonian Institute and Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., The Suntory Museum in Osaka, as well as in collections in the USA, Asia and Europe.

Karol Bąk was born on May 30, 1961 in Koło in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. He graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in Poznań and received a diploma as an interior exhibitor. In 1984, he began studies at the Faculty of Graphic Art at the State Academy of Fine Arts. For several years, Karol Bąk painted several hundred oil paintings, which constitute the largest, but not the only part of his artistic output. The artist also creates graphics, ink drawings, pastel portraits, pencil sketches, and wall frescoes. Currently, Karol Bąk cooperates with over a dozen exhibition halls in Poland and around the world.

Roch Urbaniak is a painter as well as a children’s book writer from Cracow. In his art, he is inspired by myths, fairytales, but also popculture such as computer games. Because inspiration and remarkable stories can be found everywhere, he wants to tell the stories through his paintings. He also uses paintings in other media, by creating comic books or using his illustrations in a two-part book series “Papiernik”.

His films and interactive applications have been shown at festivals all over the world, with several receiving top international awards. His style embraces surrealism and magical realism, combining themes from the natural world, fantasy, mythology, urban legends and conspiracy theories.

Edward Dwurnik (1943-2018) was one of the most important and acclaimed post-war Polish artists. He studied painting, graphics and sculpture at the Warsaw Fine Arts Academy. In 1965, he encountered the work of a self-taught artist, Nikifor Krynicki, and went on to paint in a similar style, which he has later modified and evolved. The “Radzymin” painting featured on our jigsaw puzzle was created in 2017. This is the last capture of the artist’s family town and one of the last large-sized works from the oldest series of Dwurnik’s paintings - “Hitch-hiking Travels”.

Laura Diehl is a Fantasy Illustrator based in Virginia, USA, who has been illustrating professionally since 2006. She enjoys painting digitally in Adobe Photoshop with her trusty Intuos XL graphics tablet. Her artwork is known for its glowing light, vibrant color, and a fat dollop of the fantastical.As a writer-illustrator, she enjoys further fleshing out her visual works with poetry and prose to better immerse her viewers. In her spare time she can be found sipping matcha tea, petting her Shelties, and playing old-school JRPGs.

In his works we can find long gone, ornate tenement houses or well-known edifices in unusual places and circumstances. People play a special role in his paintings. They appear on roofs, chimneys, and even levitate in the clouds - all this to show that the city can and should be full of activity.
